Now, unless you have lived in a bubble all your life, everyone knows of the wonderful deeds and actions that Habitat for Humanity provide both locally and worldwide but did you know that not only do they build homes for low-income families or families that have been effected by disasters, but they also sell new and used home improvement materials and household items to the general public.
All money raised at the Bryan / College Station Habitat for Humanity ReStore from these sales go back to building homes in this area. ReStore accepts items ranging from appliances, sofas, paint, light fixtures, furniture, washers and dryers, cabinets, doors and windows and everything in between. About the only thing that they don’t accept is clothing and toys.
Essentially anything needed to build and furnish a home can be donated and most donations are tax-exempt. All items sold are in working condition and extremely well priced, well below retail cost.
Many times homeowners will have household items that will not “fit” in their new home. Sometimes remodeling efforts can result in left over construction materials, all of these can be donated to ReStore. Donations include overstocked items, salvageable building materials, home improvement items, household furniture which are donated by buildings contractors, retail stores, manufacturers and individuals.
You can even call ReStore and schedule for them to come pick up your items if you are unable to take them to the store yourself. Many times homeowners that are preparing their house to sell will have left over repair and remodeling items, consider ReStore to donate these items to. Often once a buyer moves into a new home they realize that the sofa won’t fit, or the refrigerator is too wide or maybe they just don’t like the bathroom fixtures and they want to change them.
Well take anything that you will not need and donate it. While making your donation take a look around their store and see the huge range of items that they have on sale. You can feel good while making a purchase at well below retail cost while at the same time donating to a very worthy and local cause.
